Today most insurance policies include a clause that states that when you are away from your residence, on vacation or for extended period of time, that the property is visited and checked in your absence at least a couple of times per week. (Please check with your insurance company on their specific requirements). This is to ensure that any potential unforeseen loss or issues, i.e. water penetration, leaking pipes, burglaries etc. are minimized while you are away.
